grapefruit8.jpgThere are many people that are already using red grapefruit as part of their diet. Many people like grapefruit and don't even realize it is part of their diet, they just eat it. But there is a plan called the Ruby Red Grapefruit Diet. This diet is very easy to follow. Just be sure to consult your doctor before starting any diet. There are some medications that interact with red grapefruit so ask your doctor if any of your current medications interfere with red grapefruit juice.

The Ruby Red Grapefruit Diet is a combination of lower calorie foods and grapefruit juice. There are many benefits of red grapefruits compared to the pink or white grapefruits. Some of the benefits include potassium and Vitamin C. However, there was a recent study of 50,000 post-menopausal women that ate ¼ of a grapefruit daily and their risk of getting breast cancer was a 30% risk. There needs to be more research done on this subject but researchers believe that the red grapefruit juice may boost the levels of estrogen in women. Estrogen is associated with a higher risk of breast cancer. With that said, red grapefruit is healthier and more beneficial than other grapefruit varieties.

Along with the red grapefruit, the diet plan suggests that you eat more celery, carrots, apples, tangerines, broccoli, mushrooms, asparagus, beets, cabbage, cucumbers, blueberries, spinach, pineapples, strawberries, lettuce and cranberries. Why are these foods important? It has to do with the amount of calories that are needed for their decomposition by the body. For example, a stalk of celery has 6 calories and it take 50 calories to be digested. So the body would have an excess of 44 calories burned which reduces your fat tissue.

Now the foods listed above are not the only foods that you have to eat. You can eat other foods in moderation. But of course it is recommended that you say away from sugary foods such as soda, sweets and desserts. Just be sure that after each meal that you eat, you drink one cup of red grapefruit. The reason that you want to drink it after your meal is because it will then lower your blood sugar and prevent the fats that you just ate from entering your body.

So in conclusion, red grapefruit is very good for weight loss. The only requirement to this diet is that you be moderate with caffeine. Too much caffeine will take away from the effect of the red grapefruit benefits. Try and limit your coffee intake to two cups per day. After you come off this diet, you should still try and consume the typical one cup of red grapefruit juice after each meal. This is to prevent the fat from being deposited into the body system.
