Most baked cherry recipes call for tart cherries, but using sweet cherries means you can cut back on how much sugar you use. Sweet cherry cobbler made with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pittmandavis.com\/bing-cherries\/p\/bingcherries\/\">Pittman &amp; Davis Bing Cherries<\/a>, with a crumbly, golden-brown biscuit topping, served warm from the oven with melting vanilla ice cream, is a to-die-for dessert for family and friends that\u2019s so easy to prepare, you\u2019ll make it again and again while cherry season lasts. (It won\u2019t last long, though, so don\u2019t wait!)<\/p>\n<h3>Ingredients:<\/h3>\n<p><em>For the filling:<\/em><br \/>\n2\u00bd lbs. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pittmandavis.com\/bing-cherries\/p\/bingcherries\/\">Pittman &amp; Davis Bing Cherries<\/a>, pitted<br \/>\n\u00bd c. sugar<br \/>\n1 Tbsp. lemon juice<br \/>\n1 Tbsp. cornstarch<br \/>\n\u215b tsp. kosher salt<\/p>\n<p><em>For the topping:<\/em><br \/>\n2 c. all-purpose flour<br \/>\n2 tsp. baking powder<br \/>\n\u00bc c. sugar<br \/>\n1 Tbsp. lemon zest<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp. kosher salt<br \/>\n\u00bc c. = 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter, cut into small pieces<br \/>\n1 c. milk<br \/>\n1 tsp. vanilla extract<\/p>\n<h3>Directions:<\/h3>\n<p>\u2022 Preheat oven to 375\u00b0F<br \/>\n\u2022 For the filling: Combine cherries, sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch and salt in a large mixing bowl; stir to coat. Spread mixture evenly in a 9&#8243; x 13&#8243; baking pan. Set aside.<br \/>\n\u2022 For the topping: Add flour, baking powder, sugar, lemon zest and salt to a medium mixing bowl; whisk with a fork to combine. Using a pastry blender, work butter into mixture until coarse and sandy.<br \/>\n\u2022 Whisk milk and vanilla together in a measuring cup. Using a fork, work liquid mixture into the dry mixture until a thick dough forms.<br \/>\n\u2022 Drop large spoonsful of batter on top of cherry mixture. (The batter will not completely cover the cherry mixture.) Sprinkle two tablespoons of sugar over top of batter.<br \/>\n\u2022 Bake until topping is golden brown and cherry juices are bubbling (about 40 minutes).Serve warm topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
