DIY Grapefruit Face Scrub
One of the most popular and easy ways to eat grapefruit is by cutting the fruit in half, cutting around each segment with a pairing knife, then eating each tasty bite with a spoon. This easy DIY grapefruit face scrub is a perfect way to use the vitamin-rich flesh and juice left behind when your breakfast is finished. This scrub is gentle, refreshing, and a great way to make even more use of the nutrients grapefruit has to offer.
Benefits Of A Grapefruit Face Scrub
Grapefruit has vitamins A, C, and B as well as minerals that can help exfoliate and nourish skin. Its antioxidant properties protect skin from environmental pollutants while stimulating the production of collagen which refreshes the skin’s natural supple state. Potassium and vitamin E in grapefruit can help to reduce the appearance of age spots and lessen the formation of wrinkles.
Making Your Own Grapefruit Face Scrub
To make this easy face scrub you will need a blender, a rubber spatula or long spoon, and an airtight container with lid to store the facial scrub in.
Ingredients & Preparation
1 Pittman & Davis Grapefruit
1 cup white sugar
2-3 Tablespoon of oil (avocado oil, grapeseed oil, or coconut oil all work well)
After eating each grapefruit half, scoop out the remaining segments, flesh, seeds, and juice and add to the blender. You can also just use 3 to 4 peeled grapefruit sections. Add the sugar and 2 tablespoon of oil. Blend until smooth. You may need to add the third tablespoon of oil for a smoother scrub. When finished, your grapefruit face scrub should be about the consistency of cake batter. Using the rubber spatula or spoon, scrape the mixture into your storage container and it is ready to use.
Use and Storage
Wet your face and dry the areas around your eyes with a soft towel. Begin with about a teaspoon of scrub and apply to face in a swirling motion. Use the grapefruit scrub to cleanse face, forehead, and neck adding small ammounts as you go. Be careful to avoid your eyes with the scrub, in much the same way as you would with soap. Rinse your face thoroughly with cool water and pat dry.
Store the remaining face scrub in an airtight container with lid, and keep refrigerated for up to one week.
