Lower Cholesterol without Changing Your Diet with Grapefruit Pectin

grapefruit14.jpgDoes the title of this article sound too good to be true? Of course it does. You can not possibly lower your cholesterol without changing your diet, can you? Though the old adage says if it is too good to be true it probably is not true, that is not the case with grapefruit pectin. This soluble fiber that is found in grapefruit is so good at reducing cholesterol that it can do so without you changing your current diet, which is likely the very thing that got you the high cholesterol problem in the first place.

Now, before we go on to explain this, it is of utmost importance to point something out. Though grapefruit pectin taken daily in the correct dosage can lower cholesterol without diet changes, it is most effective when combined with diet changes. In other words, if you do change your diet to include less cholesterol, the grapefruit pectin will become even more beneficial and lower you cholesterol more and at a faster pace. So although changing your diet is not necessary, it is better to do so.

Grapefruit pectin is a fiber that can attract cholesterol floating in your bloodstream to it. The particles of cholesterol bind with the grapefruit pectin, therefore avoiding binding with the walls of your arteries. Too much of this cholesterol on the arteries can cause a condition called arteriosclerosis. This can then cause high blood pressure, strokes and even heart attacks. It goes without saying that these are all very dangerous conditions.

By binding with the grapefruit pectin, the cholesterol does not clog your arteries. This not only reduces the cholesterol in your blood but can stave off the onset of heart disease. It can also reduce plaque that is already in the arteries with regular use. This double combo of lowering and avoiding cholesterol means that grapefruit pectin is a super fiber of sorts.

Again, you do not necessarily have to change your daily diet in order to garner these grapefruit pectin benefits. However, it is best to do so. Imagine that you want to lose weight, so you begin an exercise regimen. You faithfully exercise each day but do not change your diet. The new exercise regimen is beneficial and you will lose some weight. But imagine how much more weight you could lose if you combined the exercise with a diet or at least some dietary changes.

Similarly, combining grapefruit pectin with at least a few changes in diet increases the rate at which your cholesterol level will go down. The choice is yours–more cholesterol reduction in a shorter time or less over a longer time period. Either way, you will be happy with the results of a daily dose of grapefruit pectin.
