Mushroom Pear Melts combine sweet pears and savory sautéed mushrooms to make a tasty open-faced sandwich that’s ideal for a quick lunch or brunch treat. Since these Mushroom Pear Melts are broiled, they can all be piping hot and ready at the same time, which is perfect for days when you have guests.

Assemble the simple, fresh ingredients and make these fantastic, vegetarian Mushroom Pear Melts today.

2 Tbs Butter

4 Cups sliced Shitake or Baby-bella Mushrooms

1/2 tsp Salt

1/4 tsp Pepper

8 Slices whole Grain Bread, lightly toasted

2 Ripe Pears, cored, seeded, and sliced thin

8 Slices Provolone Cheese

Preheat broiler. Heat butter over medium-high heat in a large skillet or cast iron frying pan. Add mushrooms and sauté for 5 to 7 minutes, until tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Line a cookie sheet or broiler pan with foil. Place toasted bread slices on foil-lined pan. Top each slice with a layer of mushrooms, then pear slices, then top with cheese. Broil on top rack for 2 to 3 minutes, until cheese is slightly browned. Serve with salad or a veggie tray and enjoy.

To make Vegan Mushroom Pear Melts, substitute Coconut-Oil for butter and use Vegan Cheese.

Use Smoked Provolone for an even richer flavor.

For a variation, try these with thinly sliced apples and cheddar cheese.
